The geographic situation of Pau and its circuit - South West of France, at the foot of the Pyrenees and an hour to the Atlantic coast - offer an environment of course idyllic for the event, but, and it has to be acknowledged, which doesn't favour the access to the rest of the territory.

Thus, since cities like Paris or Lyon are at more than 700 km (434,96 mi), you may have to anticipate a little bit your journey in the Bearn.

Why not seizing the opportunity by visiting the region: the Atlantic coast (Biarritz, St Jean de Luz, Hendaye, and so on…) or the Pyrenees chain, or even make a gastronomic trip to the Perigord or the Gers… These are just some ideas!

There are many ways to go to Pau, starting with car. The North-to-South-motorway network (to Paris and Nantes via Bordeaux) and the East-West one (to Montpellier and French Riviera via Toulouse) are well developed. The big difficulty is the obligation to bypass the centre of France and thus avoid the Massif Central.

It is the same about the railway-network, which is not very developed as far as one isn't coming from Bordeaux or Toulouse, but that in the opposite case allows traveling fast and safely. Thanks to the TGV, this French high-speed train, a town like Paris is only 5 hours of travel to Pau!

Another advantage of the train to Pau is that you're arriving directly in the centre, on the circuit! (Station bend)

In Pau there is also an airport with regular direct flights to Paris (8 a day - 1h15), to Lyon (3 per day - 1 hour) and London (1 per day - 1h30)

As concerns the other destinations, flights can be made via Parisian airports Orly and Roissy Charles De Gaulle, to those of Toulouse - Blagnac or Bordeaux - Mérignac or even to the one of Biarritz which offers direct flights to Clermont-Ferrand, Strasbourg and Nice.
